Accel, Benchmark invest $15 million in Metacafe
Metacafe, yet another Flickr clone for video, but with good traffic stats, just raised a $15 million second round from Benchmark Capital and Accel Partners. The company is reported to broadcast about 300 million videos per month. Valuing startups on the last three months of traffic stats seems like a dubious investment practice.
Unfunded video companies should note that Sequoia has YouTube, Draper and Bessemer have Revver, Kleiner has Akimbo and One True Media, Mohr Davidow has Radar-Tiny Pictures, August has VideoEgg, Spark has Veoh, and then there is Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Amazon.
